Divorce rates in India, Washington Post article

I wonder why the emancipation of women should necessarily mean this kind of social outcome, but I guess on our path toward equality, such movements are an inevitability.

The uprising of women

The trend is clear: highschools become more feminine. In Zurich 60% of baccalaureates in 2007 were female, while 20 years ago the ratio between women and men was 50:50. Victor Lavy from the university of Jerusalem and Anlia Schlosser of the Princeton University conclude in their study that the "climate of learning" becomes better the more girls sit in a class. Upwards of a 55% ratio of girls the performance of all kids significantly increases. Researchers agree that this is not because girls are more intelligent, but because of their more adapted behavior. Boys are more aggressive and confrontational, rather than seeking harmony. In short, they are more exhausting for teachers. In addition the curriculum is focussed on language skills, which suits boys less. Such classes make up 40% of today's curriculum, while mathematics and natural science classes only account for 30%.

Whether this fact is a "result" of teaching being more and more a domain for women, while in the medieval times it was predominantly one for men, could be an interesting field of research. But I believe that over the course of 20-30 years, there will be an adjustment to bring this figure back to "equality", as for instance Zurich's education council now demands that going forward chemistry, biology, physics, history and geography have to be graded individually again.

What is in common in marriage and sport?

The approach and respond to the same sport event is different in men and women.
We have two arenas for the same game. Only 18% of women rates themselves as "very knowledgeable" about sport in comparison to 50% of men.
While watching a game women works, men eats snacks and drinks, and put off routine work at home.

Free in thought

To have a happy family with or without kids? In one's mind it's always WITH. Nowadays it is a question for human-beings. So what makes a women to decide not to have kids?
And even more, what are the reasons for a couple to have a pet at home rather than a child? It's definitely better to make this chose with your partner, early in life.

What could a parent have done to prevent this?

Of course, being a mother of a teenager, stories like this become even more heart rending and immediate in their sadness. I often wonder, could a mom helped avoid this from happening? At what point is a parent being too nosy in his/her child's affairs? text

Love & Money

They do go together. Remember all those arranged marriages between Royal families in Europe. What about the arranged marriages of today in India? Money is at the core of the romantic discussion it appears. The way to anyone's heart is through a stable bank account.

Palintology & More

There is some truth to this. Yes, we Democratic women have been held hostage by a particular perception of the liberation agenda of Women's Rights Groups. The article below articulates some of the fallacies of this concept and helps clarify some of the vagueness that surrounds this issue.
